2007 Kumoricon Report

The first thoughts
This was my first time ever at Kumoricon and there were many things that gave me a nice surprise about the convention. First of all, I must say, the Kumoricon staff has been the best con-staff I’ve ever come across! Well, I actually only have 3 different cons to compare: AE, S-con, AX. If we consider the HK game show event that I went to, it’ll be 4. But I feel the style and setup is really different so I’ll just leave it out of the count! =D

It’s a Walk-Off!!!

Now for something a little different…
One of Anime Evolution’s big events is the “Walk-Off“ (think “Zoolander“), where cosplayers face-off in a (almost) no holds-barred runway specticle that’s one part modeling, one part improvisation, and 2 parts drama a la Sub-Zero/Scorpion lover’s quarrel (don’t ask - I’m not…), with liberal pinches of out-right bribery (apparently, perfectly legal in this event), blended and served in fan-service goblet and garnished with a musical backdrop.

Let’s see… Since Kumoricon, I’ve been:
A) Busy as all hell with my day job…
B) In and out of town…
C) Sicker than Hayato Gokudera after having his sister, Bianchi’s cooking shoveled down my gullet (Yes, Hitman Reborn! reference, folks!)…
D) Cursing out my ISP for providing such a crappy in-TAR-net connection, therefore thwarting my posts/updates…
E) All of the above…
